Burgas is the biggest municipality in the South-Eastern region in Bulgaria. It includes the municipal center – the city of Burgas—and 12 constituent towns and villages. The population is 214 197 inhabitants, as 95 % is concentrated in the city of Burgas. As a public organ, Burgas Municipality is responsible for the initiation and applications of measures and actions aimed at improving the natural and living environment of its citizens. This stems from the applicable law of the Republic of Bulgaria as well as the documents the municipality has signed, such as Green Cities Accord and the declaration entitled Towards a Common Maritime Agenda For the Black Sea. In these documents Burgas Municipality states its willingness to work towards the improvement of the components of the environment as well as human health and welfare.

Бургас е най-голямата община в югоизточна България. Включва общинския център--гр. Бургас--и 12 съставни селища. Населението е 214 197 жители, от които 95% са концентрирани в гр. Бургас. Като публичен орган Община Бургас е отговорна за инициирането и прилагането на мерки и действия за подобряване на състоянието на околната среда и на средата за живеене на своите граждани.Това се обуславя, както от приложимото законодателство на РБългария, така и по силата на подписани документи като „Споразумението за зеления град“ и „Декларация за общ морски дневен ред за Черно море“, подписана в Бургас, в които Община Бургас заявява своята инициатива, да работи в интерес на подобряване компонентите на околната среда, човешкото здраве и благосъстояние.

Участваme в изпълнението на интегриран проект в приоритет „Въздух“ и с наименование “Българските общини работят заедно за подобряване на качеството на атмосферния въздух“ по Програма Лайф 2017 – Life Action Grant 2017. / We are currently participating in an integrated project, part of the "Air" priority, called "Bulgarian Municipalities collaborate towards the improvement of air quality" under the LIFE Program 2017 - Life Action Grant 2017.
