Survey on the future of LIFE in the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework
European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has commissioned Milieu Consulting SRL to prepare a study on "Beyond LIFE. Financing climate, energy and environmental priorities in the new EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)’.
The study aims to analyse the role of the LIFE programme and other European funding instruments in supporting environmental, climate and energy policies in the context of the future EU Multiannual Financial Framework post-2027.
The Committee of the Regions is currently working on its position on the European Commission's proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028-2034) and is preparing a series of opinions. The Milieu Consulting SRL study will support this process by exploring the local and regional dimension of the implementation of the LIFE programme, as well as collecting the views of local and regional authorities on good practices, challenges and bottlenecks in the use of the programme and on its future development.
As part of the study, an online survey was developed to which all stakeholders are invited to participate. The feedback received will be key in formulating recommendations to the European institutions on the future financing of climate, energy and environmental priorities.
The results of the survey will feed into the final report to be published in summer 2026 and serve as a basis for the Committee of the Regions' opinions on the MFF 2028-2034 and the related legislative proposals.
The survey is available in all official languages of the European Union and can be completed by Monday 30 March 2026.
